One of America's Great Treasures Oyate Ta Olowan--The Songs of the People
Help us share the stories and music of Native America around the world. In the past 15 years many of the Elders we recorded have since passed. This landmark series contains some of America's most precious history and culture.
Oyate Ta Olowan--the Songs of the People is a 52-part public radio series that we produced during the 90's. We estimated that we traveled over 110,000 miles into Indian Country to gather the stories and songs of The People for this landmark public radio series. The goal was to show the amazing diversity and wonders of America's First Nations. Now the shows are available as easy downloads for just $5.99. Each 30-minute program includes the full show plus all the featured music with no cuts.
My name is Jamie Lee. I was the writer on this wonderful project and my husband, Milt Lee, was the sound artist and interviewer. Sadly, Milt passed away on Nov. 7th, 2019. This body of work represents his greatest legacy. If you want to keep up with how I am going forward in this very changed world, please visit my website at patriciajamielee.com.
